Frequently asked questions
How MakerRadar works, in plain words: launching, ranking, links, paid placements and your data.
About MakerRadar
What is MakerRadar?
MakerRadar is a weekly product launch platform and startup directory. Makers list apps, SaaS, developer tools, shops and services for free; the community ranks each week's launches by upvotes; and every listing gets a permanent, search-friendly page. Paid placements are always labelled and never change a rank.
Who runs MakerRadar?
MakerRadar is built and run by Dharmik Jagodana, operated by BaruzoTech Private Limited. You can reach us at support@makerradar.io.
Launching
How does a launch work?
Launches run by the week: each launch week starts Monday 00:00 UTC and runs to the next Monday. You pick your week when you submit; during it, your product is on the home board and the community upvotes it. When the week ends it moves to that week's archive page, and its listing page stays up for good.
Is listing free?
Yes — there are 25 free launch spots every week, and every listing gets a permanent, search-friendly page.
What happens after I submit?
Paste your site's URL and we pre-fill the listing; you review it and choose a launch week. Our team reviews every submission before it goes public, and we email you when it's approved and again when it goes live.
Ranking & awards
How are launches ranked?
Purely by community upvotes. The number next to a launch is its real standing — nothing a maker pays for changes it.
Do paid placements change the ranking?
No. A Featured or Boosted product keeps its true rank; it's only pinned to a position on the board, and it's always labelled. Awards, the archive and our structured data all use the organic rank only.
How are the weekly and monthly winners decided?
The board shows every upvote as one point, but a podium is shortlisted by weighed votes — a brand-new account, many votes from one network, and a launch's own makers count for less or not at all — and our team confirms every award before it's announced.
Links & search
Do I get a backlink to my site?
Every listing links to your site. The link is dofollow when the listing earns it — our badge on your site (we recheck it every 7 days), a Premium launch or Featured week, a Top of the Week, Month or Year award, or our team's pick. Otherwise the link is nofollow.
Why does a link sometimes open a “You're leaving” page first?
We link straight to a site only once it has passed a recent safety scan. Until then — or if its scan is out of date — the link goes through a short page that says so and lets you report the site, and a site flagged as dangerous can't be opened from our pages at all.
Paid placements & refunds
How do I know what's an ad?
Every paid spot carries a clear “Sponsored” or “Featured” label and a distinct treatment. Ads link out marked as sponsored, so they never borrow a listing's search authority.
Is there a subscription?
No. Every purchase is a one-time payment, and you never need to pay to launch.
Can I get a refund?
Duplicate charges are always refunded. Ad and Featured weeks can be cancelled for a full refund up to 7 days before the Monday they start. Launches are final once scheduled or live.
Your listing & your data
Someone else listed my product. Can I take it over?
Yes. Open the listing and choose Claim: prove you own the domain — a DNS record, a meta tag or file on your site, or a link emailed to a team address at your domain such as hello@ — and the listing is yours. Whoever proves ownership first takes it over; the page never goes offline.
Can I edit my listing after it's live?
Yes, from your dashboard. Small changes — pricing, where you're based, a reworded line — show at once. A new name, category, link, image or a rewrite is reviewed by our team first, so a live page can't be swapped for something else.
How do I download or delete my data?
In your dashboard under Account › Data & privacy you can export everything we hold about you or delete your account. Deleting removes your personal data; only anonymised billing records stay, for as long as tax law requires.
AI assistants & developers
Can AI assistants read MakerRadar?
Yes, on purpose. MakerRadar is open to search and AI crawlers, and every key page has a Markdown version for them. llms.txt lists the site for language models, so your listing can be found — and cited — in AI answers.
Is there an API?
Yes: a read-only REST API with an OpenAPI spec, and an MCP server for AI agents. Neither needs a key. See the developer docs.
